The Cairngorm Reindeer Herd is Britain’s only free-ranging herd of reindeer found in the Cairngorm mountains in Scotland. These tame and friendly animals are a joy to all who come and see them. Reindeer are not just for Christmas! Book here

There are currently around 150 reindeer in the herd, mostly ranging on the Cairngorm Mountains with the remainder on the Glenlivet Estate, the locations being some 30 miles apart. 

For the thrill seekers there are many opportunities to pursue outdoor activities, with many amazing outdoor activity providers in the Cairngorm National Park and within a short distance of The Hollies Highland Lodges. Choose from gorge walking, rock climbing, canoe trips, paint balling, mountain biking, pony-trekking, quad trekking, kayaking, wildlife safaris, tree top adventures, fishing, clay shooting and much more.

Within a short distance of The Hollies Highland Lodges, there is a choice of several beautifully positioned golf courses.  Choose from a Links course, a championship golf course, a James Braid designed course, 18 hole and 9 hole courses, all set with the Scottish Highlands as their backdrop.

The Malt whisky trail is the only trail of its kind in the world.

The quest for knowledge may take you along parts of the Whisky trail, 2 of the largest distilleries; Glenlivet and Glenfiddich are 22 and 30 miles, respectively. The tours are inspiring and tasty, even if you’re not a whisky drinker, you will find yourself in awe of the history and production process.

Walking high & low. Cycling on tracks & mountains.

Walking – There are so many walks for you to choose; from the famous Speyside Way to gentle strolls around lochs or hikes in the mountains. The walks available vary in length and difficulty and surroundings. With 43 munros to choose from and five of the six highest mountains in Britain, there are plenty of opportunities to test your equipment out. On the Glenmore and Rothiemurchus estates have great pathways through ancient Caledonian pine forest and stunning scenery. Within a short distance there are many walks to enjoy, Walk Highlands provides details of levels of difficulty and timings.

Cycling – The cycle network covers 64km of the Cairngorm National Park, offering mountain bike mountain descents (Cairngorm Mountain), bike trails (Glenlivet Mountain Bike Trail) and cycle paths around the park for a much easier pedalling.
